RFID technology, like other wireless communication and automation technologies, is a powerful tool that can serve society by reducing costs and freeing people to do more creative and valuable tasks. However, this same power may result in an abridgement of personal freedom and privacy if adequate care is not taken in the design of the overall RFID system that connects individuals with the items they possess.

Because RFIDSmartBuy does business around the world and because the laws, customs, and mores pertaining to privacy are distinctly different around the world, we rely upon ethical and technically competent developers, consumer good manufacturers, and retailers to employ our products only in ways that respect their societies’ rules. The fragile relationship between a merchant and its customers is a precious one, built upon trust and respect for their local customs and mores. We believe that our customers will not jeopardize their businesses by betraying this trust and we believe they are well motivated to employ RFID technology only in ways that reinforce that trust.

With respect to local laws, however, the test is stricter. RFIDSmartBuy will not knowingly sell any RFID product to any party that breaks or intends to break the privacy laws of the country in which it is used.
