EPCglobal Inc. is a Joint Venture between EAN International (http://www.ean-int.org/) and the Uniform Code Council (UCC) Inc (http://www.uc-council.org/) . EPCglobal will administer and develop EPC standards developed by the MIT Auto-ID Center. The Auto-ID Center officially closed on October 26th, 2003. The Center has completed its work and transferred its technology to EPCglobal. The university labs of the former Auto-ID Center are now referred to as Auto-ID Labs (http://www.autoidlabs.org). The Auto-ID Center was founded at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999. Its aim from the start was to create a global system for tracking goods using a single numbering system called the Electronic Product Code.

SC 31 official website. SC31 is a Subcommittee of Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) on Information Technology. JTC 1 is jointly sponsored by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This site (http://www.uc-council.org/sc31/home.htm) is managed by Uniform Code Council (UCC) which acts as Secretariat to SC 31under the auspices of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the United States of America National Standards Body.
SC 31 is chartered to work on automatic data capture technical specifications. In particular the Working group 4 (WG4: Radio-frequency Identification for Item Management) defines the ISO 18000 Air interface communication between Reader->Tag and Tag->Reader.
